"Well, what a show... I'd begun to think the HiFi show was dead, at least in terms of hearing anything interesting, but today's experience was was completely different. The best sounding show system I have ever heard."

Monday 31st October - 48 hours after the event and we’re still buzzing! I can’t tell you how much we all enjoyed it, and far from being just a HiFi show, it was simply a brilliant weekend away with a load of friends listening to great music on an unbelievable system, it was an absolute treat to spend it with you all.

Thank you all so much for attending and making it such an incredible success, far beyond what I’d even imagined. My thanks of course to the Tom Tom crew, Henry, Mary, Debbie and Chris who all had a great time and I trust made you all feel ‘part of the family’

Particular thanks to the guys from Naim. Mark and Jason did the most incredible set up job, and to have achieved such an extraordinary sound in a room we had never used before with only a few hours to set up what is a complex system, just shows the immense dedication and talent these guys exhibit.

Thank you Doug for a truly engaging presentation and to introducing us all to some great new music as well as some brilliantly selected old favourites. I sat through every session and never tired of what I was hearing, ‘Disappearing’ by the ‘Give Band’ being a real treat, particularly as Doug had literally stumbled across the singer at a Canadian Hi Fi show and brought the track back on a memory stick. As requested by so many visitors I will be posting a playlist from the weekend on here imminently.

Thanks also to Alan and Trevor from Naim who provided excellent technical support on Streaming and the whole NaimNet solution, and to Jason Kennedy who covered the event for HiFi Plus.

As well as the wonderful feedback from our guests it was also very gratifying to hear how much the Naim boys enjoyed it, even though they’d given up a whole weekend and worked like demons from the moment they arrived.

As a veteran of many HiFi shows and events I’m proud to say that we’ve always received plaudits for the sound we achieve but the feedback this weekend was something else, and I cannot tell you how gratifying it is to hear so many people making comments such as ‘the best Naim system they’ve ever heard in public’ or ‘one of the best systems they’ve ever heard, period’ - It just doesn’t get much better than that!

As you will have heard at the event, the Festival marked the start of our tenth year in business and was the first of a series of events to mark this, culminating in a party next year with live music so keep your eye on the website. I cannot believe that this is now our tenth year but thank you to everyone who has supported Tom Tom over the years and made us what we are today, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every single minute.

On a personal level, having grown up lusting after the mythical Naim ‘six pack’ active system and having finally achieved it (I introduced my 1988 Naxo crossover to our guests over the weekend!) it was hugely exciting to hear what Naim have achieved with the new Snaxo for Ovators and the system featured will soon be on permanent demo at Tom Tom to show what Naim is fundamentally all about and what heights of performance can be achieved with activation (and so that I can get to hear it as often as possible)

Any Naim owner owes it to themselves to hear a full active Naim system and please remember that activation is a path open to any Naim speaker of any vintage and many of the benefits can be achieved at a faction of the cost of the system we featured so please call us to start talking about activating your own system.

We have also achieved a huge deal of success with the Ovator range of loudspeakers and it was rewarding to capture so many ‘hearts and minds’ by demonstrating them over the weekend, reversing many peoples minds who were previously undecided. I’m not going to start debating the whole Ovator issue as loudspeakers will simply always be contentious, but all I can say is that no matter when or how you’ve heard the Ovators I would strongly recommend that you come with an open mind and hear the amazing results we get out of them here at Tom Tom.

Thanks once again for everyone who made it such a huge success, I honestly can’t wait to do it all again and the Festival of Sound is now a permanent feature on the Naim social calendar.

Cheers
